Ruysbos Estate. A family company.

In September 2019, Josien and Rob Ansen bought this forest together with their daughter and son-in-law. 2.5 hectares of forest, located less than half a mile away from the place where the Ansen family has run their Olpoda holiday farm since 1993.

Until two months before this purchase, Josien and Rob were the owners of Groepen.nl, a booking office with around 800 group accommodations at the time. They built this business from the ground up and sold it to Otium Leisure BV in July 2019.

Marlies has lived about half a mile away from the Ruysbos since she was two years old and currently runs the Olpoda Holiday Farm together with her husband Anton Gerritsen. Being a host therefore comes naturally to her.

In the beginning, the forest property only had a vacation house with a tennis court. It was very primitive, without water or electricity.
It didn't take long for the family to get these amenities in place. The vacation house became a modern nature house,  and soon three safari tents were installed.
The first guests were welcomed in the Ruysbos in April 2020, right after the start of the Covid pandemic... It was a strange time. Covid made sure our safari tents were full from day one. It was off to a flying start, so to speak. After all, that was one of the few "outings" families were still allowed to take in those days.

In the spring of 2021, we built an amazing tree house for children. Three forest cottages followed in 2022. We're stopping there for now. Any expansion will be based on quality, not quantity, the family says.
